Hire – Free for grassroots
Pros
-Venue ethos fits well with my projects theoretical underpinning
-tradeston (not far from city centre but may not be appropriate for travel by foot)
-BYOB
-Free Hire
-Suggested donation (nobody turned down for lack of funds)
-maybe get spitehouse involved for a panel about DIY (good collab opportunity)
-Wheelchair Accessible (will double check)
Cons
-Does not usually allow live music, has it’s own promoter (spitehouse)
-more set on diversity than DIY (this is a pro as well but I’d like freedom of curation when it comes to the artists I book for open mic
-No PA system

-Not free for grassroots
-would mean entry fee for event

-Cheap rental
-Bar above and below
-Experience hosting events in this venue
-City centre location
-ideal for alt music scene
-PA system
Cons
-Not wheelchair accessible
-bad lighting
-smaller space
-More ideal for live music than other events

The Glad café
Hire – Varies on event (waiting on reply)
Pros
-Not for profit
-community aspect
-Good space
-Good reputation for Community
-Easy transport links
-PA system
-Promotes equal opportunities for disabilities, gig buddies (volunteer buddy system for those with learning disabilities to get out to gigs they both like)
-Wheelchair friendly
Cons
-Southside so not central location
